Magical Land of Oz
Tokyo Theatre for Children’s take on a fairytale favorite
The Tokyo Theatre for Children’s Fall show, “The Magical Land Of OZ” is a quirky interpretation of the Wizard of Oz and promises to be fun for the entire family. Directed by Gerri Sorrells, the musical is based on the story by L. Frank Baum, written by Tim Kelly, with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur and has been adapted specifically for a Tokyo audience—Harajuku is definitely not Kansas!
Young children and adults alike will recognize Baum’s lovable characters: rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Tin WoodPERSON, Dorothy, Toto, Glinda, The Wicked Witch of the West and the great OZ, but TTFC’s production brings a whole new dimension to the show. Audience members are sure to be clicking their heels and humming the songs all the way home!
