This week at Weekender

Welcome to the third annual "Weekender International Schools Special" issue. This year we asked the schools across the county to discuss the cultural diversity within their facilities and the activities they encourage among their children to nurture internationally-minded global children.

I was particularly touched to learn of the students at Global Kids Academy who are, despite the distance and difference in circumstance, communicating via email with children at a school in Cambodia. I am sure through this real time communication (much more instantaneous and captivating, I should imagine, than the letter posting and waiting six weeks for a reply-style of communication in my penpalling days) the children are learning so much by sharing their experiences and stories about their lives and the environment around them.

Keeping on an educational tone, we also pay tribute to Temple University, Japan Campus as they reach their 25th anniversary. See page 12 for the events they have lined up for the occasion.
