Global Kids Academy tries Kidzania Careers
On December 19, Global Kids Academy (GKA) went on a special trip to Kidzania Tokyo. In the morning, 15 students met at Azabu Juban station with big smiles on their faces. Although it was chilly, everyone was excited to go. Kidzania is located in Toyosu, a 20-minute train ride from Azabu Juban station, and the children were ready to “work” by the time they arrived. Out of almost 70 job choices, each group was able to experience how society works through job experiences. Some children were policemen, who patrolled the town, and were taught the function of important facilities. Some children made hamburgers and pizzas, and ate them. Some children became travel agents and customized their own tour to Mexico. Some children were part of a TV production, experiencing the job of a director, a cameraman, and news reporters. Everyone was proud of their accomplishments, and was fully satisfied with their salaries. Although most of the booths were a 30-minute to an hour wait, GKA appreciate the children for being very patient, and enjoyed each other’s company during the long waits. GKA staff was very pleased to hear many positive comments from the children. It was a great success, and they hope that all the children learned something special.

Bicycle Trek for Kids and Family!
Cycle around the southern part of the Chiba peninsula on two weekends during spring! Discover Japan has been taking elementary students and their families on cycling weekends for 20 years.
Learn to ride safely in a group, see the beautiful countryside of Japan, enjoy the sense of accomplishment after riding 50–60 kilometers, and be a part of something very special. The Minami Boso peninsula is the site of the spring trips. The roads are not crowded and we cycle on fairly flat surfaces, often bicycle paths, along the coast, with beautiful scenery.
Bring your own bicycle or use one of Discover Japan’s Trek mountain bicycles.
The group spends the night at Hakkakuso, their small lodge that was opened in 1991 as a center for bicycle trips. The lodge is now a small pension, opened year-round for families and groups looking for an escape from the city. An adventure awaits you!
There are two Spring 2007 trips: Apr. 21–22 and May 19–20.
